The landscape design at Hampton Yards focuses on preserving and enhancing the area’s qualities while fostering connections to nature and each other. Whirling Water Park offers a serene escape amid the busy streets, providing residents a place to relax and socialise. Nature-based solutions address flooding, enriching residents’ lives with cultural, social, and natural values. New hydrological, biological, and social ecosystems celebrate Woolloongabba’s spirit. The holistic approach ensures flood resilience, community bonding, green experiences, and creative opportunities, shaping a vibrant urban space reflective of the area’s essence.
Using native plant species well-suited to the Woolloongabba area, the landscape can contribute to a biodiverse and ecologically sustainable public park. The planting will vary slightly between the park, plaza and podium, offering a variety of landscaped views.
Eucalyptus are effective contributors to carbon mitigation due to their exceptional capacity for rapid growth and carbon sequestration. These trees absorb substantial amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere during photosynthesis, storing a significant portion
of this carbon within their biomass. With their efficient carbon uptake, Eucalyptus forests play a crucial role in mitigating climate change by acting as carbon sinks and helping to reduce the overall concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
